1. How did you find out about CVSC?
CVSC was the first crossfit gym I ever attended way back when it was new to Cache Valley and I was just a starry-eyed undergrad. I only came for one day with my roommate who was a member, but I loved it! Upon graduating, I moved away, returning to Cache Valley again in 2021 for more schooling. After two years of grad school, sitting all day on my duff, a flight of stairs could defeat me (and regularly did). I finally decided to do something about my health and looked up CVSC. They had changed locations but were still in the valley, so I came in and signed up.
2. What is your favorite exercise or workout?
Hang clean, power clean, squat clean. I love the tricky balancing act of an overhead squat. I also love almost any workout that includes calories and EXCLUDES burpees.
3. How long have you been a member at CVSC?
I have been a member since July 2023.
4. What do you do for a living?
I’m an elementary educator turned PhD student.
5. What are your hobbies?
Dance. Anything outside. I highly recommend skydiving in the fall. Talking on the phone. Perfecting the chocolate chip cookie.
6. What are your goals?
Right now, I want to stay healthy and active through graduation. I have goals for each movement that we train, and I track my progress. Also, one day I want to hike Kilimanjaro.
7. Why do you train at CVSC?
I train here because I love the people! This community of gym goers is so open and friendly, and I have felt at home here from day one.
In general, I train because it keeps my mood in check (yay endorphins!) and helps me focus through the hours of studying. I train so that I can keep doing all the adventurous things I want to do in life. Also, exercise changes the brain, and I’ll take all the help I can get in that department. Finally, it’d be cool to beat my mom in an arm wrestle one day. It’ll probably never happen, but it's fun to dream. 😉
8. Any advice for future members?
Come in and stay until you are hooked. Brad’s programming is the best! Movement is medicine. Muscles are beautiful. Be kind to yourself and enjoy the benefits of regular HIIT training here. Your body, lungs, heart, and mood will all thank you.
